A sweet Georgian brooch modelled in silver as a witches heart and set with paste gemstones. Witches hearts are a symbolic design which date back to the medieval period where they were believed to ward off unwanted spirits. Over time the shape came to represent love and were gifted with the sentiment of being “bewitched” by your lover.

Condition: Nice clean condition. Age-related patina and surface marks. The pin and clasp is secure and working. It looks like the pin has been replaced/repaired in the past. Small nibbles to the edges of three paste stones. The paste have dulled over time but retain a lovey black dot effect and sparkle.
